Research access

Some S.W.A.N. data needs controlled access.

The public website is open to everyone. More detailed detection tools, exports and site information are available only to approved users so that sensitive locations, audio and automated results can be handled responsibly.

Why approval is needed

Sensitive site context

Some station and detection data may need careful handling before wider export or comparison.

Automated detections need interpretation

Acoustic classifiers can make mistakes, so unusual or important records should be checked before they are treated as confirmed evidence.

Responsible data sharing

Controlled access helps councils, trusts, schools, community groups and researchers use detailed data with the right context.
