Starting Out is an initiative which will help homeless people in Cornwall by providing much needed furniture starter packs that include reused items like cookers, sofas, beds, table & chairs, crockery & curtains. This pack will allow people to move into unfurnished properties and make the best start in their new home.
Many homeless people and families are prevented from moving in to accommodation because they don’t have any furniture.
Starting Out will address this by providing much needed furniture starter packs provided by three Cornish reuse centres
The people who receive the packs will be encouraged to take part in assisted volunteering to support the reuse centres and in order to benefit from training opportunities and employment advice.
Starting Out has been selected to take part in People's Millions, a program run by the Big Lottery and ITV which awards up to £50,000 to selected projects based on a public phone vote. Starting Out will be going head to head against a Plymouth based arts project on 26th November.
