The next BAN meeting is taking place on the 9th December in Taunton and will focus on the topic of financial investment and will cover the different legal structures and the types of investment they can/cannot receive and explain the broader investment language. Debbie Stewart fromCommunity Enterprise Unit will be in charge of the day.

There are still places on this Social Return on Investment training in Bristol on 29th and 30th September. Please contact Tim Goodspeed on 07714 136176.

This year’s RISE Annual General Meeting will take place on 1 December 2008 at a Social Enterprise Trade Fair. RISE is working in partnership with Co-operatives SW to deliver the trade fair, with support from Watershed Media Centre and local agencies: CDA (BRAVE), Social Enterprise Works and Co-opportunity.  The event is primarily for social enterprises and support agencies, but is open to other delegates too.

The Social Enterprise Trade Fair will be held at the Watershed Media Centre in Bristol.  Due to the size of the venue, the number of exhibitors and delegates is limited, so I advise you to complete the booking form at http://www.cooperatives-uk.coop/live/cme2372.htm as soon as possible. There is no charge to attend or to exhibit (but as last year, there is a charge to cover catering and venue costs if you book but don’t attend or cancel). To include as many exhibits as possible, we will be limiting the amount of space per exhibitor, so please accept our apologies if you do not get the space you require.  There will be an exclusive exhibition zone for holders of the Social Enterprise Mark, as a prominent feature.  If you know of anyone considering whether to apply for the Mark, now is a good time, as they may get pride of place at the Trade Fair if they are successful.

Social Enterprise Photography Competition is now launched across England – visit www.rise-sw.co.uk/photocomp for more information.  Regional winning photographs of the competition will be featured at the Trade Fair and the winners will be presented with their awards by a special guest.  Please encourage all your friends and colleagues to submit photos of social enterprises.
