A Big Lottery funded project

Background
Over the past four years, the government has invested heavily in the development of quality standards for the voluntary and community sector. Funders in Gloucestershire and beyond are becoming more aware of the range of quality standards on offer and are beginning to ask for evidence that the Third Sector organisations they fund are attaining or working towards these standards. But how do you make decisions about which standard is best for your organisation? What is involved and how much does it cost? What are the different ways of approaching the process? What are the benefits?

The project
The GRCC Big Lottery Funded PIFA Project (Performance Improvement for All) offers mentoring and coaching support for Third Sector organisations throughout Gloucestershire to improve performance and gain accredited quality standards. A small bursary is available for organisations working with the PIFA Project.

If you would like to find out more about the PIFA project and set up a meeting with the project co-ordinator, contact Elin Tattersall at GRCC elint@grcc.org.uk 01452 528491

June 2008

Late breakfast and light (knife and fork) lunches throughout Gloucestershire during the first week of June 2008

These late breakfast and (knife and fork) lunch events throughout Gloucestershire offer an opportunity for members of staff, volunteers or trustees of Third Sector Organisations to find out more about performance improvement and quality standards. There is no charge for these events but places will need to be pre-booked and places are limited to 2 per organisation. There will be events in Cheltenham, Gloucester, Teddington, North Cerney, Minchinhampton and Blaisdon.

Informal discussions over a meal will allow us to explore:

  • What is quality and what are the benefits of working towards an accredited standard?
  • Characteristics of the different quality standards available to the voluntary and community sector and which might be suitable for your organisation
  • Experiences of implementing quality standards

You will have the chance to ask questions about the PIFA project and the support available for your organisation
